In March 2025, USDA announced the termination of the Local Food for Schools and Child Care (LFSCC) program—effective May 6, 2025. This program was set to provide state agencies with $660 million for schools and child care sites to purchase local food over the next three years. LFSCC directs food dollars straight to small farmers, ranchers, and food businesses, while ensuring high-quality food for kids. Join us in speaking out in support of reinstating this program.
SIGN OUR PETITIONCONTACT YOUR LEGISLATORIn March 2025, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced the cancellation of the Patrick Leahy Farm to School Grant Program for FY 2025. This grant would have provided $10 million to help schools and early care centers purchase local food and provide nutrition education and garden activities. Take action to defend this program, which has been the foundation of our growing movement as one of the only dedicated federal funding sources for farm to school and ECE.
SIGN OUR PETITIONCONTACT YOUR LEGISLATORCongress is considering drastic changes to federal child nutrition program rules in order to cut $9 billion for school meals. This includes measures to undercut the Community Eligibility Provision, which allows millions of students across the country to access school meals for free. Cuts to school meal access also hurts progress toward bringing local food to schools. Take action now to tell your legislators that every child needs to be well-fed and ready to learn—no exceptions.
